The
Court security and Transportation division provides for the
security of the judges, staff, jurors, and the public in and
around the court complex. This division is also charged with the
timely, humane and efficient transportation of prisoners to and
from detention facilities to the court.

Under
the previous Administration, the Division went through a metamorphosis that has made the Court
Security and Transport Division the model for other Departments
throughout the United States. The change in the staff selection
process has changed the complexion of the "Classic
Bailiff", to a more efficient better trained and
conditioned officer. The increase potential for violence in the
courtroom and the need to prevent and or control this violence
is the driving factor. Professional Administrators, Supervisors
and staff have catapulted the Court Security and Transport
Division to the 21st Century.
Several members of the Bexar County Sheriff's Office Special
Weapons and Tactics Team (S.W.A.T.) are assigned to the Court
Security and Transport Division. The S.W.A.T unit is very unique
in it's structure, in that it's members span throughout the law
enforcement divisions. A quick response to any given emergency
is a top priority for S.W.A.T. Officers.
Part of the perimeter control includes deputies that assist in
transporting and escorting prisoners from the holding cells to
the court and deputies that patrol the Justice Center complex on
specially equipped bicycles.

These
officers are a visible deterrent to crime in the Justice Center
complex area. The deputies also patrol the Vista Verde and
Juvenile Justice Complex areas, as well as handle any call for
service at these areas.
"THE FUTURE"
With the increase in the workload for the judicial system so
will the increase demand for heighten courtroom protection. This
Division has set its sights on the future. Utilizing the latest
training and technology coupled with quality customer service,
which ensures the continuous efficiency of the Court Security
and Transport Division. |
