BEXAR COUNTY ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY AWARDED 2009 LONE STAR PROSECUTOR AWARD
San Antonio, Texas: September 24, 2009:
District Attorney Susan D. Reed is pleased to announce that Katrina Daniels, an Assistant District Attorney in her office received the 2009 Lone Star Prosecutor Award at the Texas District and County Attorneys Association (TDCAA) annual conference. Each year the TDCAA Board names a Lone Star Prosecutor who demonstrates professionalism and dedication to the highest standards of prosecution.
Daniels was honored for all of her efforts during the 81st Legislative Session, during which she helped craft new laws on the journalist shield law, elder fraud protection, computer crimes, and gang crimes, among other things. Daniels has been a prosecutor in the Bexar County District Attorney’s office since May of 2003 after she graduated from the University of Texas School of Law.
"I am very proud of Katrina and the work that she did in achieving the goals I set for enacting legislation that helps victims of crime in such important areas as elder fraud and domestic violence," said District Attorney Susan D. Reed. "Katrina’s dedication and knowledge of the legislative process were instrumental in a successful legislative session," says Mike Fouts, TDCAA Vice President. "Texans who support prosecution of crime are in debt to Katrina for her work."
"Katrina was the 'worker bee' behind the scenes on the journalist shield law," says Randall Sims, TDCAA Board Member. This law is viewed by many as one of the most significant pieces of legislation passed during the session.
