Frequently Asked Questions

What if my voter registration certificate expires on 12/1/99, when will I receive my new certificate and will it be the same color?

You will receive your new voter registration certificate during the first two weeks of December 1999.  The new color of the certificates will be mustard yellow.

    What if I move?

If you have recently moved, please provide our office with your new address as soon as possible.  This process will help with the delivery of your voter registration certificate.

How can I find out if I am registered to vote or if you have my correct address?

You can call the Voter Registration Office at 335-6625 and they will verify your registration, if you are not registered to vote or have an incorrect address our office will mail you a voter registration application.

    Who can Register?

You are eligible to register and vote if you are:

        A) a citizen of the United States,

        B) a resident of Bexar County,

        C) at least 18 years of age,

        D) not declared mentally incompetent by a court of law.

        E) not a convicted felon, or, if so convicted you have:

          1) fully discharged your sentence, including any term of incarceration, parole, supervision, or completed a period of probation ordered by any court; or,

          2) been pardoned or otherwise release from the resulting disability to vote.

What does the term "Suspense" mean on a voter's record?

Pursuant to Sec. 13.14(b) of the Election Code, the term "suspense" is used to designate those voters from whom the Bexar County Voter Registrar does not have a current address.  A voter with this designation will be removed from the suspense list once that person has advised us of his or her new address.  This new address is important, not only so that our records will be accurate, but also so that the voter is voting in the elections where he or she resides.
